Induction Motor Family
Induction motors are available in normal slip and high slip designs. By changing the electrical characteristics of the rotor, Hurst is able to offer a wide range of performance in a single frame size. Normal slip designs will produce full torque with only a small slip value. This feature allows for a fairly constant output speed during minor load fluctuations. High slip units create higher starting torque, but will exhibit larger speed variations with load fluctuations. Normal slip and high slip induction motors can be reversed, but high slip designs are better suited for high cycle rates or adjustable speed applications. Induction motors are used for many general purpose applications operating from AC line power. A HURST® gear box can be mounted on either design to increase its output torque while lowering its operating speed.
